great, great movie – I am afraid of remakes (but that is just my opinion)

LOL yes – drop the beard and quit rapping!! He does have that perfect remote quality (and look) to play Freddy while Maggie and January would make great butterflies. :))

yeah I thought Joaquin Phoenix, as long as he gives up the rapping and the beard, maybe Maggie Gyllenhaal or January Jones as Miranda..

if they made the film today i’d star
naomi watts – miranda (girl from king kong)
jude law/ralph fiennes – freedy

Probably too disturbing for the time. Stamp and Eggar won best actor/ actress awards at Cannes that year (1965). Joachim Pheonix might be a good choice for Freddy today (provided he doesn’t get too old). Miranda…?? Tough call. Samantha Eggar was almost as amazing as Stamp.

I think that there’s no sequel because this story was so effective and had a great, suspending ending, writing a sequel would ruin it.

good question…

Despite the financial success, the outstanding critical reviews and the superb performances by both Samantha Eggar and Terence Stamp, there was no sequel to this film. As far as I know, there has not been a remake. Who would be the stars if this film were to be remade today ?
