Although some people might be great at fleshing out and condensing a story to fit the standard 90 minute movie time frame, not all are able to do so with the kind of style you want.

In order to make sure your screenwriter can deliver the feeling you are looking for, it is important to get a sense of their own personal preferences. You will want to find out what kind of movies they like best. The more a writer is well-versed in a particular genre, the more likely they will be able to produce a quality screenplay in that style.
