In a story I’m writing, would it be inappropriate to use a screenplay for the stage?
If so, is there something equal to a screenplay for the stage, or is it just referred to as the script? Thanks!

Yes. You need to stick to the format. You are not going to be the only one using the script, and it can be confusing. Get someone who knows the format and stick to it. Screenplay and stage plays are different…GL
